Today I read news about murder that happened in 1997. It happened on Itaewon. April 1997 year, a college student was found in the bathroom of the store Burger King. And the suspects were Patterson and Edward. Patterson had the knife which seemed like killing tool and Edward Lee acted like murder. But the problem is that even though we can guess who the murder is, we couldn’t even judge him in the court. I think that was because Korea government doesn’t have enough power. Today I read news about this matter and I thought about death. Even though it is government, is it right that government can kill someone? I’m not telling you they’re good person. I know how it is cruel and brutal for the people who are left. But who can judge person to be alive or dead? I know this is really complicated problem. I discussed about this system when I was in middle school. I was in discussion group study and of course I didn’t use English at all at the moment. I didn’t agree with the death penalty. And I’m sure that I still disagree with the penalty thing. The matter that we have to think about is how we can fix the people who are injured by the murder. It’s the first thing what we have to do. Second thing is how to treat the person who killed someone. I think the thing what they did is really bad. How about the murder? Is he bad? Maybe they’re also injured by something. That’s why they did the terrible thing. Of course many people have different opinion with me. I know that and I don’t have any right to say no to that. I really do understand what they feel and I also feel it too. I’m just 24 years old but I’ve lived with many people and what I realized is that there’s no pure evil. So it’s kind of serious thing. So let’s think about Psychopath. Psychopath is the one who has Psychopathy. They are really bad at feeling because they’re in trouble with a part of their brain. So they’re incredibly selfish and impulsive. They just do what they want to do. There are many movies or novels about a psychopath who is serial killer but not every psychopath are serial killer. But it’s absolutely yes that they’re dangerous. They’re really good at lying without blinking. And sometimes they seem like very intelligent but actually almost of psychopath don’t study very hard because they’re too impulsive to keep doing something. They’re really calculating. I think the most famous Korean psychopath is 유영철. He was serial killer and maybe you don’t even want to hear what he did. Anyway psychopath usually can’t feel the happiness or love or something. According to the report that reported in the U.S. psychopath couldn’t notice which is the picture that baby is crying or smiling. Psychopath just understands what the feeling is in logic but they couldn’t feel it. It’s like someone who knows the lyrics but don’t know music. How pathetic it is. And they don’t have responsibility. The reason why they kill other people is they want to get something from murder. It’s just like game for them. They’re monster. Have you ever seen the movie “Hannibal”? In the movie, Hannibal is the main character who is serial killer and psychopath. But in real world psychopath is more like normal people. According to the report, percentage of psychopath among the normal people is just 1%, which means 1 person among the 100 people is psychopath. I was so surprised when I saw this research. Isn’t it scary? But I don’t want to doubt anyone around me. I have to do what I have to do. And doubting someone is not what I have to do. So let’s get back to the first topic. Even though he’s psychopath serial killer, government shouldn’t kill the murder by the law? I’m afraid I say yes. But I’m sure that they have to be separated from the normal people because it could be very serious problem and they’re really dangerous. So in my opinion there’s no one who has the right to kill someone. But the government has to be sure that the person who is psychopath is with normal people. I know this is hard. But I believe this has to be happened. Right now Korea is one of the countries that don’t execute death penalty. And I’m pretty sure that Korean government has to keep this position.
